This Blue Morpho also goes by the names Common Morpho and The Emperer. The brilliant blue colour in the butterfly's wings is caused by the diffraction of the light from millions of tiny scales on its wings. It uses this to frighten away predators, by flashing its wings rapidly.

A stunning Blue Morpho in a handmade wooden frame, mounted on high quality ivory card. The scientific and common names are printed beneath the butterfly, and a small information sticker can be found on the back of the frame.
